The cyclone saga – 1

The power’s gone.

But the light and fan are still on.

That’s thanks to the inverter.

And till when does that last?

She shrugged.

It had rained the hell out the previous day. So much rain! Aiy! Aiy!

The first thing to go was the internet. No mobile network, wi-fi, no nothing. In today’s times, no internet is like the dark-ages – like no power supply. Which fortunately we had, thanks to the inverter at her house. This meant now, we were forced to look outside – at the world bleeding raindrops.

The lush greens around us, varied bird calls, sighting and now the lashing rains. Our love nest was calling. She coyly looked at me, only one meaning to that look. Except, I had a nasty acidity induced headache. Talk about a downpour!

She understood (thankfully we are at that phase where she still does) & smiled looking at K who was busy searching in the fridge for something. K is our part gypsy-part Buddhist & part geek friend. He had come visiting a few days ago.

The fridge isn’t connected to the inverter, she mentioned casually to K. But my mind reacted in overdrive, it screamed….
