Does your body talk to you?
This morning, i woke up feeling exhausted. This has been happening often. To add to it, my hands and feet were hurting and i could feel my skin and different parts of my body vibrating. I was coughing infrequently too and my breath was hotter than usual.
COVID!?
Was it something different? Had this happened before? If so, when was the last time this had happened?
The morning descended into a whirl of movement — food, clothes, dishes, washing. Only when i stepped back, did i realise that i had to meet Anthony today for lunch. That thought made my shoulder twitch.
So i opened up the stitches. Was something about meeting him making me nervous?
Stillness.
Was it the lunch plan?
Mild twitching.
Was it about eating at a restaurant when COVID numbers were soaring?
The shoulders stiffened.
Hello, fear of COVID. I remember you from the early days of learning to step into communal areas again.
I phoned him. “Boss, i do not want to meet today.”
He said, “Okay”. I wondered if he was and yet, i did not ask…
The shoulders seemed looser. The breath seemed cooler. The tension felt lesser. Now.
This is what i felt, and the choices i made, today. I return to the question.
