A three-part story…
“Are you watching the show tonight?” she pinged mid-morning.
Shit! Who does a live theatre show on a Sunday evening?
“Of course I will, sweetheart,” I pinged back, followed by 😘😘.
For the longest time, I had been promising a friend that I would watch her show. Life, laziness and everything in between prevented me. Finally, last week, her reminder made me buy a ticket, pat myself on the back and forget about it.
Till I saw her promos on Insta.
I checked my mail but the tickets weren’t there. Huh? Then I recollected I had given a different email address. Checked that one and there it was. Zoom tickets, the link with their warning that post 10 minutes into the show I won’t be able to get in. Late comers beware!
I checked the time, it was 2:30pm. The show started at 8:30pm. Everything ready, all systems go. I shut my lappy and forgot about it. Again.
“Should we go for a walk?” My friend K, whose house I was bumming in, asked me that evening.
“Sure thing. I want to get my dinner as well,” I confirmed.
The bell rang just then. It was one of my friend’s friends. They chatted. I went to the other room where V, my friend’s live-in partner, was seeing stuff on her Ipad. V and me talked life, laughed randomly, discussed diets & finally her love for Korean drama.
D – R – A – M – A .
The word slowly percolated through my ears, gained momentum enroute to the brain till it hit my forehead with a bang — OH SHIT!
“What’s the time V?”
She smiled wickedly. “You forgot your friend’s play!”
My hands rose in super slow-motion to her mobile. I checked the time.
8:32pm.
Aaarghhh!!!!
To be continued…
